Abstract

This investigation is intended to provide information about the organic growth of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) in greenhouses and the compa-rison of two biofoliars, a commercial “Cacique” manufactured by AMER S.A. de C.V. (“A”) and a homemade “Biolmultimineral” manufactured by CENTA’s technicians (“B”); both applied to the production of “Gla-diator” cucumber. This investigation took place in “Flores” farm, located in Caserío El Zacamil, Cantón la Fuente, Municipio de Tonacatepeque, Departamento de San Salvador. The experiment was carried out using a completely random design with 3 treatments (A, B and Witness), matched with the evaluated varia-bles: weight, length and yield (by the number of fruits harvested per treat-ment) making two tables: the first with 50 fruits randomly selected from the 3 treatments measuring the variables weight and length; the second with yield data from 15 harvests per treatment.Kolmogorov-Smirnov’s normality test was applied to the treat-ments, Levene’s homogeneity test and the analysis of variance to check if there is a statistically significant difference among the variables. The normality tests show that the distributions of the data tend to be normal, which corroborates the variables natural behavior. According to the homogeneity test, all the evaluated data have ho-mogeneous variances which allows the ANOVA statistical analysis. As per the analysis of variance among treatments of the variable weight, the results showed that there is a statistically significant difference in the average weight, specifically between treatments A and B. When analyzing the variances of average lengths among treatments, the results showed that there is no statistically significant difference among the ave-rages. Yield among treatments showed that there is a significant statistic difference between treatments A and Witness giving treatment “A” a bet-ter yield
